Women’s Fashion Week – New York – Spring Summer 2019

Here are some of the best highlights from New York Fashion Week Spring Summer 2019. My particular favourites of all the shows were Tom Ford and Tibi.

Tom Ford

The show consisted of a women’s and men’s collection, colour palettes for the collections were nudes, warm whites and powdery pastels. Stand out looks were tailored blazers and sculptural leather jackets paired with lace and chiffon skirts and black and deconstructed silk satin smoking suits.

Michael Kors Collection

The collection span was from vacation to evening soirée’. Looks included a tie-dye sweatshirt in cashmere with a matching blanket, slip dresses, sarongs and accented blazers with palm tree–shadow prints and colourful zebra and leopard prints. There were also metallic brocade dresses and jumpsuits.

A super chic collection, there were long shirt dresses without embellishments. Relaxed suit trousers tied at the front or on the side. Pastel and soft colours were in delicate tones of pink, yellow and green.

Kate Spade

The show exuded a 70s spirit and sensuality. This was Nicola Glass’s debut collection for Kate Spade. A graphic floral pattern on a silk dress opened the show. There were also playful pieces with rubber rain macs and poppy coloured knee-high boots.

The collection consisted of semi-sheer maxi dresses, layered dresses and fringed leopard-print jackets. There were also exceptionally crafted mini skirts and waist-skimming biker jackets. The inspiration for the collection came from rock chicks Anita Pallenberg and supermodel Veruschka.

The collection consisted of leather mini skirts and silver metallic cutaway-detail dresses paired with shimmering cycling shorts. Fringed crystal net detail embroidered on to a blazer and biker shorts worn with a green tailored jacket – This is a label to watch.
